Ching earns PING All-America Third Team honors

USD senior golfer Alex Ching (Honolulu, HI) closed out his fabulous four-year career with USD by being named to the 2012 Division I PING All-America Third Team. The two-time West Coast Conference Player of the Year owned a team-best scoring average of 70.82 (39 rounds). He took medalist honors at the prestigious San Diego Intercollegiate and Fresno State Lexus Classic, and tied for first at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational (lost playoff for medalist honors). In addition, he finished one shot out of medalist honors with a three-round 8-under par total of 208 (72-70-66) at the 2012 West Coast Conference Championships.
Twice he was named a WCC Golfer of the Month (September & March) and twice was recognized by the San Diego Hall of Champions as an Amateur Star of the Month (December & March). At the Celebration of Excellence, he was selected USD's co-Torero Male Athlete of the Year.
