LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The USD men's soccer team endured their third overtime contest in as many games, but fell 3-2 at No. 14 UCLA Sunday evening from Drake Stadium. The Bruins came away with the victory after a USD own-goal in the 96th minute gave UCLA the final advantage.

UCLA (3-1-1) pushed the ball up the right sideline when Gregory Antognoli fired a cross into the box where a USD defender slide to knock the ball away, but instead the ball wound up in the right corner of the net.

The first half started slowly as both teams worked the ball around the perimeter. Neither team registered a shot until about 20 minutes in. The Bruins kept the ball on USD's side of the pitch for much of the first half, Connor Brandt got the Toreros (1-3-1) on the board in the 26th minute after he was tackled in the goal box. Brandt converted the ensuing penalty kick for his first goal of the season, putting USD up 1-0.

The lead did not last long as UCLA evened it with a goal from Leo Stolz in the 38th minute. Stolz took a pass that was chipped into the box before firing the goal past USD keeper Michael D'Arrigo.

The Bruins followed that up with the go-ahead score five minutes later as Brian Iloski took a give-and-go and from the left side to put UCLA up 2-1.

USD tied it up at 2-2 when Parker Price found himself unguarded in the box and headed in a corner kick from Michael Turner in the 67th minute, giving Price his first career goal.

The Bruins outshot USD 15-8 on the night, but the Toreros were able to put some pressure on the UCLA defense. Michael Turner just missed a header high from about 10 yards out after taking a long pass from Shane Thompson on the far left wing in the 22nd minute. Later on, in the 72nd minute, Joey Dei Rossi just missed a goal when his diving header sailed wide right following a pass into the box from Connor O'Neill.

D'Arrigo took the loss for USD, making two saves in the effort. Earl Edwards Jr. picked up the victory in goal for UCLA.

The Toreros return to action when they host UC Davis on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 pm.
