SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's soccer team shutout San Francisco 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Negoesco Field. USD won their fifth consecutive contest as Patrick Wallen notched a goal and an assist and Sergio Lopez tallied his third goal of the season.
The Toreros (7-6-0, 5-1-0 WCC) got on the board in the 29th minute when Wallen knocked in a follow up on a penalty kick after USF keeper Brenden Roslund saved the initial shot. The goal was Wallen's fourth of year.
Lopez followed that in the 72nd minute with a goal off a corner kick that put USD up 2-0.
USD held a 14-11 edge in shots on the day and an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks. Torero keeper Drew Ilijevski (5-1-0) recorded four saves in notching his second shutout of the season. Roslund (5-5-2) made four saves while taking the loss.
The Toreros take the week off before returning to action at home against Loyola Marymount for a 7:00 pm kickoff at Torero Stadium.
