SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The USD men's soccer team dropped their season finale by a score of 2-0 at Santa Clara on Sunday afternoon at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Broncos (11-9-0, 8-4-0) picked up a pair of second-half goals to down the Toreros (6-10-4, 2-7-3).
USD outshot Santa Clara on the day by an 11-8 margin, however the Broncos made two of those shots count. After a scoreless first half in which each team fired off four shots apiece, Santa Clara went up 1-0 in the 54th minute when Keigo Kameya capitalized on a deflection off of a free kick for the go-ahead score.
The Broncos then added an insurance goal in the 78th minute when Harrison Hanley took a volley off a free kick to give SCU their final 2-0 advantage.
Connor Brandt led the Toreros with three shots on the day, while Darragh Vieyra and Keegan Smith each registered two shots apiece. Michael D'Arrigo took the loss in goal for the Toreros, making two saves in the contest.
Kendall McIntosh picked up the win in goal for Santa Clara with three saves on the day.
