SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's soccer team has announced their 2013 schedule. The upcoming season's slate will feature a total of 20 contests, including 10 home games and two matchups with 2012 NCAA Tournament teams in Cal State Northridge (Sept. 6) and UCLA (Sept. 15).

"We are really excited to get going this year and build off our success from last season," said head coach Seamus McFadden, who is entering his 35th season at the helm. "It is always a competitive matchup when we play San Diego State and we feel the rest of our non-conference opponents will really get us tuned up for another strong WCC schedule and hopefully a postseason opportunity."

The 2013 campaign kicks off at cross-town rival San Diego State on Aug. 30. The Toreros and Aztecs did not meet last year but met the previous three years. USD then travels to Cal State Northridge on Sept. 6 for a rematch of last season's NCAA first round matchup in which the Toreros topped the Matadors 2-1 in overtime to advance in the tournament.

USD will host Cal State Fullerton (Sept. 8) and UC Riverside (Sept. 13) before heading up to UCLA on Sept. 15. The Toreros and Bruins met in the second round of last year's NCAA Tournament, with USD pulling out a 5-2 victory in Westwood. The Bruins finished the 2012 season with a No. 13 ranking in the final NSCAA poll.

The Toreros will then return home to host UC Davis (Sept. 20) and Sacramento State (Sept. 22) before kicking off West Coast Conference play with home contests against Loyola Marymount (Oct. 2) and Santa Clara (Oct. 4). USD edged out Santa Clara by one point in the final standings to win the 2012 WCC crown.

USD will take a road trip to the Pacific Northwest for WCC contests against Portland (Oct. 11) and Gonzaga (Oct. 13) and then return to Torero Stadium for games against San Francisco (Oct. 18) and Saint Mary's (Oct. 20), whom the Toreros defeated at home last year to win the WCC championship.

The WCC slate will be broken up by a non-conference road matchup at Cal on Oct. 25. The Toreros have not played the Golden Bears since the 2007 season.

The Toreros will resume conference play up the in the Bay Area when they visit San Francisco (Nov. 1) and Saint Mary's (Nov. 3) before welcoming the Northwest schools to San Diego with games against Gonzaga (Nov. 8) and Portland (Nov. 10) at home.

USD will close out the regular season on the road at Loyola Marymount (Nov. 13) and at Santa Clara (Nov. 17).

McFadden and his squad face the tall task of replacing nine graduated seniors from a 2012 team that advanced to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament, marking one of the best seasons in USD soccer history. The Toreros posted an overall record of 14-9-0 (9-3-0) last season and ended the year ranked No. 12 in the NSCAA final poll.
