SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's soccer team was ranked No. 16 in the 2013 NSCAA National Preseason Poll, which was released on Aug. 13. The Toreros, who finished the 2012 season ranked No. 12, were the only West Coast Conference team to appear in the poll.

USD is looking to follow up their outstanding 2012 campaign that saw them finish 14-9-0, win their seventh WCC title and advance to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. The Tournament run was USD's best since the 1992 season when the Toreros played in the national title game.

The Toreros will field a much different squad this year after the departure of nine seniors. However, they return four starters that earned postseason accolades a year ago: Sr. D Julian Ringhof (3rd Team NSCAA All-Region & 2nd Team All-WCC), Sr. MF Elijah Galbraith-Knapp (2nd Team All-WCC), Jr. GK Drew Ilijevski (Honorable Mention All-WCC) and So. F Torrey DeArmas (All-WCC Freshman Team).

USD opens the 2013 season at San Diego State on Aug. 30. Their schedule features a road contest at preseason No. 9 UCLA on Sept. 15, a rematch of last season's second-round NCAA Tournament showdown. The Toreros will also have another rematch from last year's NCAA Tournament when they play at Cal State Northridge, who was receiving votes in the preseason poll, on Sept. 6.
