Sr. F Patrick Wallen moved into a tie for fourth place among USD's all-time goal scorers when he scored his 28th career goal in USD's 2-1 win over San Francisco on Oct. 26. Wallen is tied with Leighton O'Brien (1995-98). Wallen also took over seventh place all-time in USD history in career points- he now has 66 points in his career.
The Toreros have won seven games in a row, their longest winning streak since an 11-gamer in 2003.
The last time the Toreros started WCC play 7-1-0 was in 2009, the year they won their most recent WCC title and the last year they made an NCAA Tournament appearance.
RS-So. F Sergio Lopez was named WCC Player of the Week on Oct. 8. He became the second Torero to earn the honor this season after Elijah Galbraith-Knapp won on Sept. 10.
RS-Jr. D Julian Ringhof tallied his first goal as a Torero in USD's victory at LMU on Oct. 10. Fr. F Torrey DeArmas tallied his first career goal and assist in USD's win over Portland on Oct. 5, while RS-Jr. F Blake Milton scored his first goal as a Torero in a victory at Saint Mary's on Sept. 30.
Sr. MF Dan Delgado scored two goals in USD's 3-2 win at Saint Mary's on Sept. 30. He became the first Torero to score multiple goals in a game since Patrick Wallen scored twice in a 3-2 victory over SMC on Nov. 14, 2010.
RS-Jr. GK Michael D'Arrigo set a career high with nine saves vs. UC Santa Barbara on 9/14.

Notables: Gonzaga is coming off road losses to Saint Mary's (2-1) and Santa Clara (3-1) this past week... The Zags are being outscored 27-15 by their opponents this season... USD won the first matchup of the season 2-0 on Oct. 7.
Portland Pilots (6-8-1, 4-4-0 WCC)
Top Scorers: Steven Evans (13G/2A/28 Pts.); Ricardo Carrillo (5G/4A/14 Pts.); Keith Grubisich (3G/2A/8 Pts.)
In Goal: Justin Baarts (15 GP/2.00 GAA/60 SV/6-8-1/2.0 SHO)
Notables: Portland is coming off a 3-2 loss at Saint Mary's this past weekend... The Pilots defeated Santa Clara on the road 2-1 this passt week as well... USD won the first contest of the season 4-3 on Oct. 5... The Pilots are tied with USD for the most goals scored (16) in WCC play... Portland leads the WCC in points (48) in conference action.
RISING TO THE TOP: The Toreros took over sole possession of first place in the WCC standings with their two wins over LMU and USF this past week. USD and Santa Clara had been all locked up in first place prior to last week but with SCU's loss to Portland, the Toreros are three points ahead of the Broncos for the top spot. USD and Santa Clara are set to face each other in San Diego in both teams' final regular season game on Nov. 11. The Broncos are the only WCC team to have defeated USD so far this season.
ONE AFTER ANOTHER: The Toreros have now won seven games in a row, their longest winning streak since an 11-game stretch in 2003.
HISTORY REPEATED?: The last time USD got off to a 7-1-0 start in WCC play was in 2009, the last time the Toreros won a WCC title and the last time they made an NCAA Tournament appearance. That year USD finished the season with a 12-6-2 overall record and 8-2-2 WCC mark and lost to No. 5 UC Santa Barbara in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
WEEK'S TOP PERFORMER: RS-So. Sergio Lopez won his first career WCC Player of the Week honor on Oct. 8 after notching goals in each of USD's victories. He scored his first goal of the season in a 4-3 home win over Portland on Oct. 5 before adding a game-winner in a 2-0 victory over Gonzaga on Oct. 7. Lopez was the second Torero to earn WCC player of the week recognition after Ellijah Galbraith-Knapp won the honor on Sept. 10.
STEPPING ON THE GAS: The Toreros have outscored their opponents 16-9 in WCC play. That is a stark contrast to their non-conference slate in which USD was outscored 14-6. USD's 16 goals in WCC play are the best in the conference. In their 4-3 win over Portland on Oct. 5, USD established a season high in goals (4) and points (12) and tied their season high with 19 shots in the contest.
CARPE DIEM: F Sergio Lopez and F Torrey DeArmas have quickly made the most out of their brief time in the starting lineup. Lopez has started the last seven games after opening the season on the bench and has scored goals in three of those contests. Meanwhile, DeArmas joined the starting lineup at the beginning of WCC play and notched a goal and an assist in USD's win over Portland on Oct. 5.
JUST COMING UP SHORT: While the scores haven't seemed to do the games justice, USD has been very competitive with the two Top-25 opponents they have faced so far this season. In both games the Toreros have held their opponents in check defensively by not allowing a goal in the first half in either matchup. Against No. 13 UCI (8/24), the Toreros held a 7-6 first half advantage in shots, while against No. 6 UCSB (9/14), USD got a number of outstanding first half saves from GK Michael D'Arrigo. With the exception of a nine minute span where the Gauchos scored three goals, the Toreros were right in the mix.
THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM: MF Dan Delgado became the third consecutive Torero to win WCC Player of the Year honors after taking home the recognition last season. He followed current teammate Patrick Wallen (2010) and Ryan Peterman (2009). Delgado tallied a total of nine points in 2011 (2g/5a) while ranking second in the WCC in assists during WCC play (5). He has led the team in assists the past two seasons.
LEAVING HIS MARK: Sr. F Patrick Wallen entered the 2012 campaign tied for seventh in USD history in career goals scored and just moved into a tie for fourth all-time with his 28th career goal. Wallen had a career-high 12 goals in 2010 and scored three goals in 2011. USD's all-time leader in goals scored is Guillermo Jara, who scored 51 goals from 1992-95.
