SAN DIEGO, Calif.- University of San Diego senior midfielder Charles Blase was recognized as a Capital One First-Team Academic All-District 8 honoree, as announced by CoSIDA on Friday afternoon. Blase, an accountancy major, has maintained a 3.31 GPA while also pitching in on the field this season with a game-winning goal against Penn and an assist against Drake.

Blase was one of 11 honorees to take home first-team honors at the Division I level. Capital One Academic All-District nominations are open to those student-athletes who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 in both undergraduate and graduate courses and are of at least sophomore standing academically while also having spent at least one full school year at their institution. In addition, nominees must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team's competitions.

Blase was a 2010 West Coast Conference honorable mention All-Academic selection as well as a member of the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll in the spring of 2011. Over his career, Blase has played in every game except for two and has compiled three goals, five assists for a total of 11 points.

Blase will be one of five Torero seniors honored on Senior Day Sunday, Nov. 6th when USD hosts Portland for a 2:00pm contest at Torero Stadium.
