SAN DIEGO, Calif.- University of San Diego senior midfielder Charles Blase was named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference on Wednesday. Joining Blase was redshirt junior Sean O'Connor, who was named honorable mention all-academic.
For Blase, this marks the second-consecutive year he has earned conference All-Academic honors. The accountancy major boasts a 3.31 GPA and was named Capital One Academic All-District 8 earlier this season as well. Last season, Blase was also named to the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll. Blase earned All-WCC honorable mention honors for his play on the field this season, as he contributed a game-winning goal and an assist to help the Toreros finish the season tied for third.
O'Connor, a midfielder and business economics major with a 3.33 GPA, earned WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition last year. He scored his first-career goal this season while appearing in 14 matches on the year.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must be in at least sophomore standing academically and maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.
