Winner of USD/Georgetown will play the winner of Louisville/Maryland in the
semifinals of the Men's College Cup on Dec. 7 in Hoover, Ala.
The only other time the Toreros advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament came in 1992, the year USD played in the finals against Virginia. Including their run this season, the Toreros have advanced out of the first round a total of seven times.
So. M Connor Brandt was named to both the TopDrawerSoccer.com and College Soccer News national teams of the week on Nov. 26. Brandt also earned Top Drawer Soccer Men's College Soccer Player of the Week honors on Nov. 19, while senior midfielder Dan Delgado was named College Soccer News National Player of the Week. Delgado was also named to Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week.
USD is making their 13th overall trip to the NCAA Tournament and first since 2009. USD is now 12-11-1 all-time in the tournament.
The Toreros won their first WCC title since 2009 with a 2-0 shutout at home over Saint Mary's in their second-to-last regular season game on Nov. 9.
Head coach Seamus McFadden was named WCC Coach of the Year for the eighth time in his career. USD also had10 players selected to the All-WCC teams- three first-teamers, three second-teamers, three honorable mentions and one All-Freshman selection.
Sr. F Patrick Wallen was named West Coast Conference Player of the Month for the month of October. He scored five goals in USD's six wins during the month and added an assist.
Wallen moved into third place among USD's all-time goal scorers when he scored his 29th and 30th career goals in USD's 5-2 win over UCLA on Nov. 18. Wallen also took over sixth place all-time in career points (71) with an assist in USD's 2-1 win over Tulsa on Nov. 25.

Notables: The Hoyas were the Big East runners-up... Georgetown had a first-round bye before defeating UNC Charlotte 1-0 and topping Syracuse (1-1) in a shootout in the Sweet 16... This will be the first-ever meeting between USD and Georgetown... GU is outscoring opponents 36-19 on the year... 30 of GU's 36 goals this season have come from three players (Allen, Neumann, Riemer)... Brandon Allen's 15 goals are the sixth-most in the NCAA this year, while Steve Neumann's 12 assists are fifth-most in the nation.
MOVIN' ON: The Toreros' 2-1 victory at Tulsa in the Sweet 16 this past Sunday gave them three come-from-behind wins in the NCAA Tournament so far. After being outplayed and falling behind 1-0 in the first half against the Golden Hurricane, the Toreros tied it with a goal in the 62nd minute by Conor McFadden. Connor Brandt then connected for the game-winner in the 67th minute. USD needed an 88th minute goal from Dan Delgado to force overtime at Cal State Northridge in the first round before Brandt scored the game-winner in the 103rd minute. At UCLA, the Toreros fell down 1-0 in the ninth minute before rallying back to take a 2-1 lead, then broke a 2-2 tie with goals by Patrick Wallen and James Cohn that eventually sealed the 5-2 upset.
ON THE NATIONAL SCENE: So. M Connor Brandt was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week and the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on Monday after scoring the game-winner in USD's 2-1 win over Tulsa in the Sweet 16. Brandt was also recognized by Top Drawer Soccer as the Men's College Soccer Player of the Week on Nov. 19. Sr. M Dan Delgado was named College Soccer News National Player of the Week and also named to Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week on Nov. 19.
COAST TO COAST: USD hasn't faced a Big East opponent since 2006 when the Toreros defeated Rutgers 2-0 in San Diego.
USD IN THE DANCE: The Toreros are now 12-11-1 all-time in 12 previous appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Their most recent appearance came in 2009 with a 1-0 loss to UC Santa Barbara in the second round (USD had a first-round bye). USD's best finish in team history came in 1992 when the Toreros lost to Virginia 2-0 in the NCAA title game. USD has advanced past the first round on seven occasions, including this year.
NAIL IN THE COFFIN: The Toreros won their seventh WCC title with a 2-0 victory over Saint Mary's at home on Nov. 9, clinching the championship in their second-to-last regular season game. Sr. M Dan Delgado scored the game-winner in that contest, while Fr. M Torrey DeArmas added the insurance goal.

GK Drew Ilijevski and Sr. D Matt Chavez were honorable mention selections. Fr. M Torrey DeArmas was named to the All-Freshman team. USD's six first- and second-team selections were tied for the second-most in team history.
SENIOR SEND OFF: This year's nine-member senior class were freshmen the last time the Toreros advanced to the postseason. in 2009.
OCTOBER'S BEST: Sr. F Patrick Wallen was named WCC Player of the Month for the month of October. His five goals during the month helped USD go 6-0-0 in October. Wallen scored in three straight games at one point and notched two game winners.
STEPPING ON THE GAS: The Toreros outscored their opponents 22-14 in WCC play. That is a stark contrast to their non-conference slate in which USD was outscored 14-6. USD's 22 goals in WCC play led the conference.
CARPE DIEM: RS-So. GK Drew Ilijevski, RS-So. F Sergio Lopez and Fr. M Torrey DeArmas have made the most out of their opportunities to climb into the starting lineup. Ilijevski took over as the starter in goal on Sept. 30 and proceeded to collect wins in his first eight starts, while going on to be an All-WCC honorable mention selection. Lopez has started every game since Sept. 30 after opening the season on the bench and was named WCC Player of the Week on Oct. 8. Meanwhile, DeArmas joined the starting lineup at the beginning of WCC play and has two goals and an assist as a WCC All-Freshman team honoree.
