Three Toreros Selected to All-Far West Region Squad
Patrick Wallen

Dec. 11, 2012

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's soccer team was well represented on the 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Far West Region team with a total of three selections. Senior midfielder Dan Delgado and senior forward Patrick Wallen were each named to the first team, while junior defender Julian Ringhof was a third-team selection.

Delgado (Escondido, Calif.) wrapped up his USD career by leading the Toreros (14-9-0) in scoring this season. His nine goals were not only a career high, but were also the third-most in the conference this season, while his 10 assists led the WCC and were the eighth-most in the NCAA. The 28 points he tallied overall were also the third-most in the conference. Delgado played a key role in helping lead the Toreros to their second NCAA quarterfinals appearance in team history this season with a goal and five assists in four postseason contests. In addition to being an All-WCC first-teamer this year, Delgado was named the WCC's Player of the Month for November as well as a San Diego Hall of Champions Star of the Month. He was a third-team All-Far West Region selection in 2011.

Wallen (Vasteras, Sweden) earned his third-career All-Far West Region honor after scoring eight goals to go along with three assists for a total of 19 points on the year. Wallen led the team in shots (62) as one of the Toreros' top offensive threats. He completed his USD career with the third-most goals scored (30) in Torero history, including a pair of goals in USD's 5-2 upset over No. 4 UCLA in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Wallen earned WCC Player of the Month honors for October in addition to being a first-team All-WCC selection.

Ringhof (Sexau, Germany) made his presence felt on the defensive side of the pitch in his first year as a Torero, while also chipping in with a couple of key goals throughout the season. A transfer from Cal State Los Angeles, Ringhof stepped into the middle back and helped guide the defense with aggressive, hounding play. He scored the only goal in USD's 3-1 NCAA Quarterfinal loss at Georgetown on Dec. 1 with a header off a corner kick. He also notched the game-winner in USD's 2-1 double overtime victory at Loyola Marymount on Oct. 10. Ringhof was a second-team All-WCC pick this season.
