Toreros Conclude Play at Midland Tournament

Reyna wraps up weekend with a victory

USD Men's Tennis Head Coach Ryan Keckley has announced the addition of Rich Bonfiglio to his coaching staff. Bonfiglio has five years of collegiate assistant coaching experience under his belt prior to accepting the job at USD.

"I am pleased to announce that Rich will be joining the Torero family this January. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this USD team," said Head Coach Ryan Keckley

Bonfiglio was an assistant tennis coach for three years at Trinity College (2011-2014) then moved on to coach at Ithica College for both the men's and women's tennis teams (2014-2015). At Ithica he helped the men's team finish runner up in conference and the women's to win conference and advance to the second round at the NCAA Championships. Most recently Bonfiglio was the assistant coach for men's tennis at Amherst College where the team reached a season all time high of a No. 7 ranking and a No. 14 finish in Division III (2015-2016).

"I am extremely excited to begin work at the University of San Diego," said Bonfiglio. "I would like to thank Coach Keckley for providing me this amazing opportunity to work at such a prestigious academic and athletic institution. I am looking forward to helping Ryan continue USD's rich tennis tradition in the WCC and on a national level" said Bonfliglio.

Bonfiglio started his college career playing tennis for Middleberry College (2007-2009). The team finished No. 5 nationally in Division III both years he attened school there. He transferred to Trinity College where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Public Policy and Law (2009-2011). He played for their varsity tennis team where he was team captain, All NESCAC selection, and ranked No. 27 in singles and No. 17 in doubles. He finished is education at Trinity College Graduate School earning a master's degree in Public Policy (2012-2014). 

"His passion and enthusiasm for this sport is contagious," said Keckley of Bonfiglio. "He lives and breathes tennis and aligns perfectly with the values that this institution represents. I believe Rich is an extradorinaiy fit for USD, and he will strive to give our student athletes' the experience they deserve. I look forward to working with him for many years to come," said Keckley.
