Known as "Sergeant Major" to his players, Keith Williams is in his second year being involved with the University of San Diego men's tennis program and his first as a volunteer assistant coach. Born in Los Angeles, California, Williams served 30 years in the United States Marine Corps before retiring in April 2006 as a Marine Sergeant Major.
In 2006, Williams worked as Leadership, Team-building, and motivation consultant to the United States Tennis Association (USTA). In this capacity, he developed and ran "Boot-camp" based programs for elite players that emphasized discipline, character and warrior skills that inspire championship results.
In 2007 and 2008, Williams worked with coach Masi on the University of Southern California's coaching staff in the capacity of mental and physical conditioning coach. In 2009 and 2010, Williams worked as mental and physical conditioning coach for Jesse Levine and Scoville Jenkins- two ATP professional players competing world wide on the men's professional tour tennis.
