PALO ALTO, Calif. -The No. 27 University of San Diego men's tennis team (1-1) fell to No. 26 Texas A&M (4-0) 7-0 in the second day of ITA Kickoff Weekend.

The Toreros were swept in doubles play by the Aggies, who were coming off a victory over No. 10 Stanford. In the No. 1 spot the Aggies' Jackson Withrow and Junior Ore defeated the Toreros' freshmen duo of Romain Kalaydjian and Uros Petronijevic8-5.

At the No. 3 spot A&M's Jordan Szabo and Jeremy Efferding knocked off Victor Pugliese and Ciaran Fitzgerald 8-5. In the final doubles match the Aggies 6th ranked Harrison Adams and Shane Vinsant won on an abandoned match over Thibaut Visy and Clarke Spinosaat No. 2

The Toreros struggled in singles play, losing some hard-fought battles. At the No. 1 spot the Aggies 103rd ranked sophomore Jeremy Efferding defeated Kalaydjian 6-2, 6-1, which was followed by Petronijevic falling to Vinsant at the No. 4 6-2, 6-2. Spinosa couldn't hold on against Adams, falling 0-6, 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3.

In the No. 5 spot Pugliese fell to Withrow 6-3, 6-3. Fitgerald hung tough with the Aggies highest ranked singles player Jordan Szabo (No. 87) before falling 6-2, 7-5 at No. 6. The night would end for the Toreros when Visy fell to Ore 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

The Toreros return to action Saturday, February 2, when they take on UC San Diego at 9:00 a.m. and UC Irvine at 1:00 p.m.
