Three Toreros win singles matches at Harvard Chowder Fest

BOSTON, Mass. -The University of San Diego men's tennis team kicked off their 2013-14 season by winning three singles matches over Tulsa in Harvard's Chowder Fest Friday.

Senior Clarke Spinosa, who is ranked No. 42, knocked off No. 12 Japie De Klerk 6-4, 5-6, 6-2. Uros Petronijevic and Andrew Raphaelson also won their singles matches. Petronijevic won 5-6, 6-2, 6-2 over Carlos Bautista and Raphaelson won in straight sets 6-2, 6-5 against Daniel Santos.

Romain Kalaydjian, Ciaran Fitzgerald, and Patrick Hall all fell in their singles matches against Tulsa. Kalaydjian lost to No. 30 Clifford Marsland 6-3, 6-1, Fitzgerald was knocked off by Alejandro Espejo 6-4, 5-6, 6-2, and Hall fell 6-5, 6-3 to Dylan McCloskey in his Torero debut. Andrew Carlisle fell to Harvard's Conor Haughey 6-1, 6-4.

The Toreros struggled in doubles play against Harvard, losing all three matches. Complete results are listed below.
