SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Toreros take on the Badgers from Wisconsin a day early to avoid rainy weather conditions. USD will play Wisconsin Tuesday at 2 p.m. Wisconsin's men's team is ranked No. 31 nationally but they have no ranked singles players or doubles teams. USD is also scheduled to play Princeton on Thursday at 2 p.m.
RECAP: The Toreros finished up their 7th Annual San Diego Spring Break Tournament on Saturday. Throughout the three day tournament the Toreros played Drake, No. 30 Tulane and Iowa.
In the first round of the tournament Thursday, the Toreros defeated Drake 4-2. San Diego lost the doubles point but fought their way back to the top. Guus Koevermans broke the 2-2 tie and then it was Alexandros Araouzos who put the Toreros ahead and clinched the win.
On Friday, the Toreros moved on to play No. 30 Tulane but were downed 4-0.
On Saturday the men played Iowa in another comeback match ending in a 4-3 victory. The Toreros lost the doubles and first singles points but quickly made them up to tie at 3-3. This time, it was Filip Vittek who broke the tie and won the match for USD.
SCOUTING THE BADGERS: No. 31 Wisconsin is on a four match win streak and holds a 10-2 record. On March 11 the Badgers defeated No. 32 Minnesota 4-3. For the 12th time this season, the Badgers gained the doubles point then won three more singles points and clinched the victory.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS: Princeton is headed to California for their spring break training. They will make their way down California to play Pepperdine, San Diego and UC Santa Barbara during their west coast stay. The Tigers are on a six match win streak with their last win against William & Mary. The Tigers have a 9-2 home record but have yet to win a match on the road. Their overall record this season is 10-6.
Although Princeton's team is not ranked, they have the No. 24 doubles team on their side, Alexander Day and Luke Gamble.
The Toreros will play Wisconsin at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center Tuesday, March 21 at 2 p.m. Then on Thursday San Diego will play Princeton at 11 a.m.
