LA JOLLA, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's cross country team opened the season with a strong third place finish featuring the Toreros and cross-town rivals UC San Diego and Point Loma Nazarene University. The course took the men through UCSD's campus while both the start and finish lines were at the track on the north side of campus.
San Diego's Chris Jacobs posted a team high 22:09.4 capturing first place over the four mile course. Mike Koch finished a team high second place and 13th overall with a time of 23:29.2 in his first collegiate race while teammate Marcus Lopez finished 18th overall and team high third place with a time of 23:44.4. Will Rial finished 20th in the race with a time of 23:50.9. Rounding out the top five finishers for USD was Adam Conover finishing 22nd in a time of 23:57.4.
The Toreros continue their season when they face cross-town rival San Diego State at the Aztec Invitational on Saturday, September 13 at Balboa Park starting at 8:15 a.m.
