Toreros compete well at Asics-UC Irvine Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The University of San Diego competed this weekend at the Asics-UC Irvine Cross Country Invitational opening up the season against squads from Pepperdine, Fresno State, Chico State, and UC San Diego.
The Toreros ran a limited crew of harriers at the race that took place on the campus of UC Irvine at the Anteater Recreation Center.
Leading the way for USD with a team high first place was Jacob Bruce (Freshman, Chino Hills, CA) finishing in 28:18.20. Finishing for the team in second place was Chase Roberts (Freshman, San Diego, CA) with a time of 28:54.20. Rounding out the team's top three finishers was Luke Daenitz (Freshman, Park City, UT) in 29:26.60.
Other finishers for USD included Jamie Schiff (Sophomore, Los Angeles, CA) with a 29:28.60 mark, Michael Koch (Sophomore, Highlands Ranch, CO) with a 29:44.80 time, and Matt Oden (Sophomore, Shreveport, LA) with a 30:17.30 time.
The Toreros return home to San Diego to race at the Aztec Invitational on Saturday, September 19th at 9:00 a.m. in Balboa Park.
