Toreros Head North to the Stanford Invite

Stanford, CA - This Saturday, September 28th, the Torero runners are looking to take on the deep competition at the 40th Annual Stanford Invitational. Also, showcasing Saturday, are the youngsters of the high school cross country scene. With 33 college teams competing, a trip up north will test our new freshmen, as they dive head first into their first major collegiate race.

With senior Gillian Gorelik leading the back, our lady Toreros are looking to pack it up and run strong as a team. Among the veterans, the Toreros are bringing some fresh legs into the game with freshmen Claire Miller, Stephanie Lapidus, Ashley Mitchell, and Andrea Hughes. Similar to last year, this young team has the talent and the speed to display some clock-stopping times.

Our men are looking to tear it up on the Stanford golf course and earn their stripes this weekend. Also, a very young team with freshmen Matthew Beasley, Adam Bodine, Spencer Hoffman, Adam Bodine, Ryan Lesansee, and Christopher Spinney. However, they have the motivation of seniors Rudy Mendoza and Erik Anderson, along with junior captain Justin Brown-Pinozotto, to pump them up and show them the ropes of this smoking fast course.

 

 

Among ranked teams in the field of this invitational, the Toreros are looking to give the competition a run for their money. Look for our young teams to show their stuff as they take on this speedy course in beautiful Stanford, California.

Location: Stanford Golf Course

Entrance: Near the Stanford Red Barn (and No. 2 fairway) at the end of Electioneer Road, at the intersection Fremont Road, just off Campus Drive.

Parking: Free public parking is available at the parking garage on Stock Farm Road, near the intersection of Campus Drive. Also, there is recommended parking at Parking Structure 5, which is on Oak Road and intersects with Stock Farm Road.

Cost: $10 for adults; $5 for youths/seniors.

Bring: Water, sunscreen, a hat, something to sit on, and find a good spot in the shade. Traditionally, there are high temperatures on meet weekend.
