Oct. 19, 2011
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of San Diego cross country team continues competition on the road, as they travel to Fullerton, CA, to compete in the Titan Cross Country Invitational this Friday, October 21st.
The Toreros come off a high intensity performance at the Bronco Invite this past Saturday, where the women’s team placed 13th overall, followed by a 19th place finish on the men’s side. Highlighting the Torero runners on the day was senior Jenessa Rose with a women’s 5k invite time of 18:21.0, while junior John Cutter continued to pave the way for the men’s team with an 8k time of 25:34.1. Freshman Johnathan Garcia also shined bright with his USD freshman record-breaking course time of 25:36.2. The USD runners look to take the momentum from this past Saturday’s competition into the Fullerton Invite before heading into the WCC Championships at the end of October.
Friday's course features surfaces compiled of approximately 70 percent concrete and asphalt, and 30 percent grass with races beginning and ending on a track. The course consists of multiple loops around the grass recreation field, concrete and asphalt surrounding the Titan Sports Complex.
The Titan Invite will be held on the campus of Cal State Fullerton with the women’s 5k race kicking things off at 5:00 p.m., followed by the men’s 8k run at 5:30 p.m. Following the evening’s competition, awards will be distributed to the top teams and top five runners of each event.
