JUNIOR (2009-10): Appeared in 27 games while making one start... helped the team win the Maggie Dixon Surf N Slam Classic for the second straight year...had a career-high 12 points in a game vs. Tennessee State where she was 4-for-5 from the field and 3-for-4 from the charity stripe in 18 minutes of play...in the final game of the season against Santa Clara (03/05/10) she scored 10 points and recorded five rebounds in 23 minutes of action.

SOPHOMORE (2008-09): Played in 24 games with one start, rotating between the point guard and shooting guard positions... helped lead the team through an incredible run at the WCC championships, winning three games in three days before falling in the championship game...helped the team win the Maggie Dixon Surf N Slam Classic...averaged 1.7 ppg...tied a career-high nine points in a win against BYU-Hawaii (12/5/08)...scored six points against UC San Diego in the season-opener (11/14/08).

SOPHOMORE (2007-08): Redshirted at USD.

FRESHMAN (2006-07): Played a huge role in the biggest turn around in program history, a 12-game improvement...helped lead the team to the best record in program history at 21-9...played in 15 games as a reserve for the Toreros...scored a career-high nine points, while only playing in eight minutes, in a win against San Diego State (11/19/06)...averaged 1.2 ppg and 0.66 rpg in her 15 appearances.

HIGH SCHOOL:
Earned four varsity letters playing for her father Doug Vanderhorst at Amador Valley High School...named the East Bay Athletic League MVP as a junior and senior...helped lead her team to the EBAL championship as a junior...averaged 22 points per game as a senior and 21 points per game as a junior...named All East Bay all four years...named All-State as a junior...named first-team All-EBAL all four years...also lettered in cross country.

Sara Ruth Vanderhorst was born on June 28, 1988 as the daughter of Andrea and Doug VanderHorst in San Jose, Calif....was also recruited by Loyola Marymount, Oregon State and New Mexico State...chose to attend USD because of the basketball program...her father Doug played basketball at Clarion State University.
