SAN DIEGO -- Head women's basketball coach Cindy Fisher is excited to announce the signing of Katarzyna Olczak to a National Letter of Intent. Olczak, a 6-7 center from Zielona Gora, Poland, just completed her freshman year at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Oklahoma. Olczak completes an outstanding recruiting class that includes a trio of incoming freshmen - Kendall Bird (6-2 F, White River HS in Buckley, Wash.), Myah Pace (5'10" G, Bishop O'Dowd HS in Oakland, Calif.) and Sydney Hunter (6'0" G, McNary HS in Keizer, Ore.).
"We are thrilled to add another quality post player to our USD roster," said head coach Cindy Fisher. "Kat not only adds significant size to our roster, she also brings great skill and mobility. Her ability to get up and down and finish around the rim is going to make her a tough matchup for our opponents. Kat is a fantastic person and we are excited to have her join our USD family."
This past season Kat helped Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College to a 23-2 record and national ranking of 10th among junior colleges in the country. The team advanced to the Junior College National Tournament where they advanced to the second round before falling to Trinity Valley.
Also recruited by Liberty University, Kat chose USD for the school's strong academics, quality basketball program, and the chemistry she had with teammates and the coaching staff. An outstanding student with a 3.63 grade-point average, Olczak plans to major in Business.
