Future Camp Info
SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The USD women's basketball staff and team recently wrapped up their summer camp season after hosting three camps over a week period.
"The summer is a great time for players to improve their skills and take their game to the next level," Head Coach Cindy Fisher said. "We preached hard work to our campers every day! Our goal is to have each camper walk away with new found confidence, drills to take home and work on throughout the summer, and lasting relationships from the friends they experienced camp with."
The Toreros kicked off their camp season with the Nike Individual Camp (June 18-21). Over 75 campers ages 8-18 participated in the camp where the focus was on skill development; ranging from offense to defense, rebounding to passing, along with agility work. Some campers immersed themselves them in the college experience by staying overnight in the Alcala Vista Apartments.
That was followed by the Elite Camp (June 22), intended for varsity and college-bound athletes. Players participated in collegiate-like practices with one-on-one, three-on-three and five-on-five competitions. Campers also had the unique experience to ask current Toreros about the challenges and benefits of being a D-I student-athlete at the University of San Diego.
The Toreros' final camp (June 23-25) included over 50 teams from the West Coast for one of the most competitive team camps in Southern California. JV and varsity teams from California, New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado competed in six games to help prepare them for the upcoming winter season.
