AUSTIN, TX - The USD women's rowing team turned in another strong day of racing at the Longhorn Invitational on Lady Bird Lake Saturday. The Toreros won three of their four races in the afternoon session to position themselves third in the overall points standings after day two, collecting 40 points overall behind Oklahoma (58) and Texas (60).

This comes a day after USD posted a team sweep of Tulsa on day one Friday.

Highlighting Saturday's action were dual wins over Kansas State by USD's V8, 2V8 and V4 in the evening racing session. The V8 cruised past Kansas State, finishing at 6:53.7, nearly 15 seconds ahead of the Wildcats' top boat.

The Toreros' 2V8 clocked a 7:06.3, finishing ahead of KSU's 7:11.6, while the V4 won by just over five seconds as well, with a time of 8:02.5 to Kansas State's 8:07.3.

USD's novice eight came in behind Kansas State with a time of 7:30.2, while KSU finished in 7:12.0.

The Toreros' novice eight highlighted the morning session by posting an eight-second victory over Oklahoma's novice eight. USD finished at 7:00.2, while the Sooners trailed at 7:08.5.

The USD varsity boats came in second in each of their races in the morning but put together some strong performances. The V8 trailed Oklahoma in their race, coming in at 6:38.2 behind OU's 6:33.2. Likewise, the 2V8 clocked a 6:53.8 which followed Oklahoma's 6:39.2 and the V4 finished in 7:36.5 behind the Sooners' 7:29.7.

The Toreros will have all four boats in action against Iowa on Sunday with the first race featuring the novice eight at 8:50 am CT. The V4 will race at 9:30 am, followed by the 2V8 at 10:10 am before the V8 wraps up competition at 10:50 am.
