Varsity eight wins heat on day one of Crew Classic
USD's V8 will compete for the Cal Cup on Sunday.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The USD women's varsity eight won their heat in pursuit of the Cal Cup on Saturday at the San Diego Crew Classic, highlighting the first day of action of the two-day regatta. The V8 registered a time of 6:42.30, coming in ahead of WCC rival Loyola Marymount (6:47.51).

USD's varsity four finished fourth in their heat 7:38.25, coming in just behind Duke (7:36.40). The Toreros' second varsity eight also notched a fourth-place finish, while the eight competing in the women's open event placed fourth in their heat as well. The second varsity four turned in a fifth-place finish in their heat.

The varsity eight will compete in the grand final for the Cal Cup on Sunday at 10:30 am, while times and events for USD's other boats is still being determined.
