SAN DIEGO, Calif. - After putting in a number of strong performances in the San Diego Crew Classic two weeks ago, the University of San Diego women's rowing team is returning to action against more of the nation's top crews when they travel to the UVA Invitational on Apr. 14 and 15. The two-day regatta will take place on the 2k course on Lake Monticello, VA.

The Toreros have made a regular occurrence of racing against the NCAA's top rowing programs this season. From the Longhorn Invitational in mid-March to the Crew Classic at the beginning of April, the USD women's crew has proven their talent by pushing these teams time and time again and recording their share of wins in the process.

This weekend on Lake Monticello will be no different. The Toreros, who are receiving votes in the most recent CRCA/US Rowing Coaches poll, expect to be pushed by the likes of No. 1 Virginia, No. 14 Cornell, No. 18 Clemson, No. 19 Minnesota, and Notre Dame and Northeastern, each of whom are receiving votes in this week's poll.

The Toreros should feel right at home as the weather forecast for the weekend points to high-70s to mid-80s temperatures with mild winds. Action will kickoff on Saturday morning at 9:30 am EST with USD's third varsity eight racing against Minnesota and Clemson's novice eight. The Toreros' other boats will face Northeastern and Minnesota in the morning session with the second varsity four setting off at 10:10 am, followed by the varsity four at 10:50, the second varsity eight at 11:30, and the varsity eight closing out the morning at 12:10 pm.

USD will race Clemson and Cornell in the afternoon session on Saturday with the third varsity eight setting off at 2:10 pm, with the second varsity four following at 2:50, the varsity four at 3:20, the second varsity eight at 3:50, and the varsity eight closing it out at 4:20.

Sunday's slate will only feature a morning session in which the Toreros will go up against Notre Dame and Penn. The third varsity eight is set to open the day at 9:20 am, while the second varsity four will race at 10:00 against Penn and Virginia's third varsity four. At 10:30, USD's varsity four will compete, followed by the second varsity eight at 11:00, before the varsity eight wraps up the weekend at 11:30.
