SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The awards and accolades keep piling up for senior rower Michelle Campbell. A week after being named to the CRCA All West Region First Team, she was honored by the San Diego Hall of Champions as their star of the month for May.
The month of May is sure to be one Campbell (Waikanae, New Zealand) will never forget. On May 17, she helped the USD V8 earn a first place finish at the WCC Championships. All three Torero boats took first place to give USD their fourth WCC Championship in the past five years and to clinch their first ever berth in the NCAA Championships. Shortly after the races, Campbell was named WCC Rower of the Year.
The following week, Campbell was named to the CRCA All West Region First Team, becoming just the second Torero to earn that honor (Hannah Patrick, 2012). Campbell then helped the Toreros accomplish their goal of finishing in the top 16 at the NCAA Championships, when the V8 finished in 14th place to help USD earn a final overall finish of 15th.
