CRCA/Pocock Division I All-American Team

SAN DIEGO, Calif. --
Uche Anyanwu of the USD women's rowing team was named to the 2017 CRCA Pocock All-American team. This is Anyanwu's second year in a row being named an All-American, making her just the second in program history to earn the honor twice (Michelle Campbell, 2013 & 2014).

"It is such an honor to be named an All-American for the second time," Anyanwu said. "Being a student-athlete at USD was a dream come true and I couldn't have received any of these accolades without the support and encouragment from my coaches, teammates and professors."

This is the fifth year in a row the Toreros have had a representative on the All-American team. Anyanwu was a second team honoree in 2017 after being named to the first team in 2016.

Anyanwu was already named the 2017 WCC Rower of the Year and was a CRCA All-Region selection last week.

"To finish out my rowing career as a Torero is such a blessing," Anyanwu explained. "I'm so grateful to have experienced such a rewarding senior year."

General requirements for nominating a student-athlete for CRCA post-season honors are:

-The student-athlete must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution

-The student-athlete must have rowed at least 75% of the current spring season's races in the varsity boat (before and including May 19, 2017)

-- The student-athlete must be nominated by her institution

-- The Head Coach of the student-athlete's institution must be a member in good standing of the CRCA

The nominated student-athletes are then selected to 1st and 2nd teams based on the following criteria:

-- Strength of finish of the institution's varsity eight within the country

-- Coach comments

-- 2k erg score
