Toreros Outlast Tigers, 2-1, in Double Overtime

Julia Sherwood scored the game-winner in the 107th minute of action.

RS Senior (2016): Appeared in all 19 games with 15 starts...Scored six goals with three assists...Four of her six goals scored were game winning goals, which is tied for the second most game winning goals in program history...Named to All-WCC Honorable Mention team...Had a stretch of four goals in five matches to end the season

RS JUNIOR (2015): Played in all 20 matches with 19 starts as a midfielder for the Toreros...scored three goals and had five assists for 11 points...scored one goal against USC (9/11/15)...scored the game-winning goal against CSUN (9/25/15), and against Pacific (11/6/15)...recorded two assists against Cal State Fullerton (9/27/15)...recorded one assist against San Diego State (9/17/15), Portland (10/1/15) and against Pacific (11/6/15).

RS SOPHOMORE (2014): Played in all 20 matches with 19 starts...scored four goals and added in four assists for 12 points...helped lead USD into the NCAA Tournament...took 12 shots, six on goal...scored the game-winning goal against No. 20 San Diego State (9/19/14)...scored the game-winning goal, and had one assist against No. 10 Michigan (8/29/14)...scored a goal against BYU (10/3/14)...scored one goal against Portland (10/12/14)...recorded one assist against Santa Clara (10/26/14)...recorded one assist against Pacific (10/30/14)...recorded one assist against Loyola Marymount (11/8/14).

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Academy of our Lady of Peace...was a three-year varsity starter...as a junior and senior, was named her team's MVP...as a junior was named second-team All-Western League, s she helped her team reach the CIF semi finals...as a junior, named All-CIF...as a senior, scored 19 goals, and had five assists...as a senior was named first-team All-Western League, and helped her team reach the CIF quarter finals...also lettered in track and tennis...was part of the 4X100 relay team that set a new school record...was the team captain of the tennis team her senior season.

CLUB: Played club soccer for Notts Forest Football Club...helped lead her team to the Notts Forest National Cup semifinals in 2012.

PERSONAL: Julia Abigail Sherwood was born on Dec. 27, 1993 in San Diego, Calif....she is the daughter of Lee and Jeanie Sherwood...chose to attend USD because of the excellent academic environment, the elite soccer program, as well as the USD student body community...notes she enjoys spending time with her siblings, playing tennis, skimboarding, reading and hiking with her parents.
