LONG BEACH, Calif. - An early deficit and two second half goals were too much for San Diego to overcome Friday night, dropping a 3-0 decision at Long Beach State.
The Toreros (1-5) fell behind early, when the 49ers (4-2-1) Ayanna Robles scored in the 5th minute to give her side a 1-0 lead.
USD was unable to slow down LBSU's attack and was outshot 13-3 with the 49ers holding a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Toreros defense did well to keep USD within striking distance, holding LBSU to one goal through the 52nd minute. The 49ers Rocio Rodriguez and Rola Badawiya scored a goal apiece in the second half to extend its lead to 3-0 and put the game out of reach.
Amber Michel played well and made three saves in goal for the Toreros.
USD will look to get back on track next weekend with a pair of games against UC Irvine and defending national champion USC.
