San Diego, CA- The 3rd ranked Bruins of UCLA visited The University of San Diego's Torero Stadium Tuesday night and came away with a 2-0 victory. UCLA out-shot USD 34-5 en route to improving its record to 7-1-2. San Diego goal keeper Libby Bassett (Seattle, WA) saved six shots for a Torero team that dropped to 6-3-3 overall. Both teams open up conference play later this week.
UCLA sophomore Iras Mora (Cancun, Mexico) netted the first Bruin goal Tuesday during the 35th minute. Mary Castelanelli (Lodi, CA) split the San Diego defense on the right side of the net and looped a perfect pass to Mora who beat Bassett from ten yards out. After the score remained at 1-0 into the second half, UCLA freshman Bristyn Davis (Locust Valley, NY) scored in the 57th minute to extend the Bruin advantage. Davis bounced a rebounded attempt off the right post during a flurry of UCLA offensive chances.
San Diego next faces Santa Clara this Sunday in Torero Stadium at 1pm.
