SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego had six softball players selected to the Pacific Coast Softball Conference All-Coastal Division team. Highlighting the list of honorees was three-time first-team selection C Taylor Hensley, while 2B Jessica Tieszen, RF Lauren Tomey and RHP Jenny Lahitte each earned first-team honors for the first time in their careers. RHP Cassidy Coleman was a second-team selection for the second consecutive season and 3B Chloe Kaneko earned honorable mention honors in her first year as a Torero.

Hensley (San Diego, Calif.) capped off her USD career by hitting a career-best .358 while leading the team in home runs (10), doubles (14) and RBI (36). Among her 10 home runs were two grand slams. She leaves USD as the Toreros' all-time leader in home runs and doubles.

Tieszen (White Rock, B.C.) also wrapped up her Torero career with a .304 avg. this season, adding 12 doubles, a triple, three home runs and 22 RBI while starting all 45 of USD's games.

Tomey (San Diego, Calif.) led the team in hitting this spring with a .364 avg. and 51 hits. She clubbed four home runs to go along with seven doubles, a team-best three triples and 23 RBI.

Lahitte (Alpine, Calif.) and Coleman (San Diego, Calif.) teamed as USD's de facto co-aces this season. Both pitchers were among the PCSC leaders in a variety of pitching categories throughout the season, including ERA, strikeouts and opposing avg. Lahitte posted a 12-10 overall record with a 2.23 ERA and 148 strikeouts in 138.0 innings. She set a new USD record with 16 strikeouts vs. UNLV on Feb. 24 and threw the first no-hitter in team history at Saint Mary's on Apr. 7.

Coleman was just as dazzling this season, posting a 12-6 record with a 2.21 ERA while striking out 148 in 126.2 innings pitched. She had four games this season of double-digit strikeouts including a career-high 14 at Saint Mary's on Apr. 6, a game in which she tied the USD record with 11.0 innings pitched.

Kaneko (Huntington Beach, Calif.) burst onto the scene this year by starting all 45 of USD's games and hitting .320, third-best on the team. She added seven doubles, a triple and a home run with 18 RBI. She was the only Torero to collect five RBI in a game this season, which she accomplished on Mar. 31 at Cal State Bakersfield.

The individual awards and All-Coastal Division selections were voted on by the six head coaches of the Coastal Division.

This season was another step in the right direction for the Toreros as they finished in second place in the Coastal Division for the second-straight year, while establishing a new season high for wins under head coach Melissa McElvain with their 26-19 (13-7 PCSC) overall record. USD also set a new team record with 28 home runs this season, while McElvain, in her 11th season, became USD's winningest coach with her 213th career victory on Apr. 28 vs. Sacramento State.

Among the highlights of the 2012 campaign, the Toreros defeated their first NFCA top-25 opponent since 2003 when they knocked off then-No. 23 Houston 3-1 on Feb. 24. Overall, the Toreros faced six opponents who went on to compete in the NCAA tournament and notched victories over three of those squads.

In addition, USD had a total of seven Coastal Division Player and/or Pitcher of the Week selections this season, with Lahitte leading the way by being named pitcher of the week on four occasions.

Tieszen and RS-So. IF Mickell Escobar earned the team's Coaches Award, which is presented to the player(s) who demonstrates strong consistent effort, positive hard-working attitude and competitive heart. Kaneko was named the team's rookie of the year, while So. CF Dana Prelsnik earned defensive player of the year honors and Tomey took home offensive player of the year recognition. Hensley was named the team's MVP for the second-straight year.
