• Softball's Powerful Youth Statement


    Two freshmen, Kailey Hill and Paige von Sprecken, have helped the Toreros to their best season since 2000. Hill has set a USD single-season record for home runs and von Sprecken has the second most wins in the nation amongst freshmen.

  • Toreros Head to BYU for Biggest Series of the Year


    The Torero softball team (28-18, 7-2) travels to Utah for their biggest series of the series where they will take on BYU (30-9, 6-0). If USD sweeps the Cougars, they will take over first place. Even if they only take two of three, they will own the tiebreaker over BYU, which could prove crucial in determining who earns the WCC's automatic bid into postseason. Friday's doubleheader (4:00 & 6:00 p.m.) can be seen online on TheW.tv and Saturday's noon series finale will be shown on BYUtv and BYUtvsports.com.

  • Kailey Hill Named WCC Player of the Week


    Freshman outfielder Kailey Hill's record-setting weekend earned her WCC Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Hill hit a blistering .889 (8-for-9) and set a new USD record for home runs in a single season, helping the Toreros take two of three from Santa Clara. This is Hill's second Player of the Week honor and the sixth overall for the Toreros.

  • Toreros Topped by Broncos 5-4


    The Torero softball team (28-18, 7-2) couldn't complete the sweep against Santa Clara, falling to the Broncos 5-4 on senior day. Despite the loss, the Toreros still set a school record with a .773 home winning percentage on the season (17-5). Before the game, the six USD seniors were honored with a brief ceremony. Noelle Devlin, Kylie McNutt, Kylie Crawford, Morgan Kurtz, Caitlin Rooney, and Chloe Kaneko have won 104 career games thus far, which is the most of any recruiting class under Coach McElvain.
