LOS ANGELES, Calif. - USD sophomore Keenan Lineback claimed her second conference championship in as many days on Saturday at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships at East Los Angeles College. Lineback became the first Torero conference champion in the 1650 freestyle since Sarah Gleason at the WAC Championships in 2009. Lineback's time of 16:39.04 also set a new USD record in that event, besting Gleason's mark of 16:47.18 set in 2009.
Overall, the Toreros finished in sixth place in the conference meet with 316 points. UC Davis won the 2013 MPSF Championship with 673.5 points, followed by BYU in second (635.5) and Hawaii in third (610).
Sarah Reierson turned in a season-best 2:00.42 in the 200 backstroke, placing her in fifth place in that event. Taylor Noonan also improved nearly six seconds on her season-best in the 200 back with a 2:03.63 (12th place).
Melissa Andruzzi's 2:16.86 in the 200 breaststroke (9th place) established a new personal-best by a little more than two seconds.
Lineback (6th place) and Eleanor Phillips (7th) finished back-to-back in the 200 fly finals. Lineback's 2:02.57 was a season-best for her, while Phillips' 2:04.13 also established a personal season-best.
Francesca Finucane finished in 16th place overall in the 100 freestyle, clocking a 52.34.
Morgan Scarth swam a season-best in the 1650 free as well with her time of 17:36.49, putting her in 14th place overall in the event. Also establishing a season-best in that event was Katie Olsen (17th place) with her swim of 18:01.10.
Capping off the weekend was USD's 400 free relay squad (Stone, Andruzzi, Finucane, Kimmel), which placed sixth with a season-best 3:25.88, nearly four seconds better than the previous team-best this year.
