SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of San Diego swimming and diving team competed well in day three of the WAC Championship but fell one spot in the standings as they drop to 7th place overall with 260 points.

San Diego broke their third school record, today in the 400 Medley Relay thanks to the team of Kristyn Deckard, Melissa Andruzzi, Sarah Geerdes, and Francseca Finucane finishing in 3:49.60.

In the 400 Individual Medley, Melissa Andruzzi finished in third place overall with a 4:24.27, while teammate Katharine Olsen took 19th overall with a time of 4:36.82.

Kelly Stone took fifth place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.46. Teammate Jacquie Kimmel finished 10th with a time of 57.42 while Jessica Rodriguez finished in 17th place with a time of 57.83.

In the 200 freestyle, Francesca Finucane took third place with a time of 1:50.70 followed by teammate Sarah Geerdes who took fourth place with a time of 1:51.15. Sarah Gleason took 20th with a time of 1:55.44.

Melissa Andruzzi led the way in the 100 butterfly with a 10th place finish in 1:04.69.

In the 100 backstroke, Kristyn Deckard took 9th with a time of 57.05 overall while teammate Kristen Yoon took 13th in 58.66. Aileen Fedrick finished the backstroke in 21st place with a time of 59.84.

 

 

Wrapping up the day's events was the 400 Medley Relay as the "A" squad finished in 3:49.60.

On the final day of the WAC Championship, preliminaries start at 11:00 a.m. and will include the 200 backstroke, the 100 freestyle, the 200 breaststroke, and the 200 butterfly. At 12:30, the diving preliminaries begin in the 3-meter event. At 4:00 p.m. the 1650 distance freestyle will start. Then at 6:30 p.m., the finals for the 1650 freestyle begin, followed by the 200 backstroke, the 100 freestyle, the 200 breaststroke, the 200 butterfly, the 3-meter diving final, and the 400 freestyle relay.
