SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The USD Swim & Dive team wrapped up another successful MPSF Championship weekend Saturday. The Toreros finished in sixth place but set five school records and had multiple swimmers post career bests. USD has set 13 combined school records at the past three MPSF Championships.

Junior Bri Jurries highlighted the weekend with school records in the 200 IM and 200 breast. Her time of 2:11.83 in the 200 breaststroke beat her previous school record of 2:14.15 from 2015, set a MPSF championship record, and set the all-time mark for the East Los Angeles College pool.

"The 2:11 200 breast was a time I felt I could get for a while now, but seeing it through to execution and not letting the obstacles from the season get in the way of my goal was very fulfilling," Jurries said. "I really didn't even know I was close to the pool and meet record until after prelims, so it wasn't necessarily the target but a happy byproduct of what manifested from a lot of hard work this season."

Jurries' also finished in second place in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.59, beating the previous USD mark of 2:02.30 set by Sarah Geerdes in 2009.

Freshman Danielle Taylor swam the 100 butterfly in 55.13, topping Carolyn's Gorrick's 13-year-old school record of 55.46.

USD also set program records in two relay races. Danielle Taylor, Danielle Deiparine, Mackenna Briggs, and Jackie Taylor finished the 800 freestyle relay in 7:21.92. Their time topped the previous record of 7:22.26 set in 2014 by Taylor Noonan, Keenan Lineback, Gwen Walter, and Jackie Taylor.

The Toreros also set a school record in the 400 medley relay with Sarah Reierson, Bri Jurries, Mackenna Briggs, and Jackie Taylor finishing in 3:43.56. Their time beat the previous record of 3:44.15 by Sarah Reierson, Bri Jurries, Taylor Noonan, and Jackie Taylor set last year.

Aside from school records, many Toreros swam career best times over the weekend.
