SAN DIEGO – San Diego continues its fall season Friday at 2 p.m. (PT) when it plays host to USC at the Sports Center Pool.
It will be the first time in program history the Trojans will visit the Toreros. USC has been ranked as high as eighth in the country in the preseason polls.
USC will be the first of back-to-back Pac-12 matchups for the Toreros. USD plays host to UCLA in its next meet on Oct. 13.
The Toreros opened its 2017-18 season two weeks ago with a pentathlon meet against San Diego State. USD dropped a 33-24 decision, despite a number of standout individual performances.
The first five events of the meet - 100 free, 100 fly, 100 back, 100 breast, 100 IM – were combined to make up the pentathlon, with points being allotted accordingly. The meet concluded with a set of sprints followed by the 400 IM and 500 free.
Times for each individual from the first five events were combined and swimmers were ranked accordingly.
Hubel was impressive in the 100 fly, finishing second among all swimmers with a 58.27. Evans earned a top-five finish in the 100 IM with a 1:02.73.
USD had multiple impressive finishes in the sprint portion of the competition. Dani Taylor made quick work of the competition in the 50 free, finishing with a meet-best time of 24.62. Taylor also finished first in the 50 fly (26.69), while Hubel placed third in the event (27.16). Evans notched a third-place result with a 32.24 result in the 50 breast.
Makenna Briggs provided the highlight in the 500 free, finishing first with a time of 5:15.37 and over eight seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
