Nadia Abdala begins her fourth season as a USD assistant coach for the Torero women's tennis program.  Abdala has made an immediate impact with the program in the recruiting department helping the Toreros land some outstanding international players over the past three seasons.

In 2015-16 she was named the Southwest Region's Assistant Coach of the Year by the ITA. Abdala joined the Torero family for the 2014-15 season after competing on the WTA professional tour and coaching junior players in the La Jolla school system.

"I am looking forward to being part of a team again," Abdala expressed. "I am grateful that I will be able to work with someone as experienced as Sherri. As a former professional and collegiate tennis player, I believe that I can bring my personal expertise to help the team succeed in our upcoming season."

"Nadia brings the experience of playing college tennis at a high level along with her passion for the game to our program," Head Coach Sherri Stephens said. "I am excited to have her energy and enthusiasm to motivate us all."

Abdala was a standout player while at Arizona State University (2006-2010). She was apart of a top 25 PAC-10 program, yet also found great success nationally in both doubles and singles. Abdala received a career-high ranking of No. 11 doubles (2008), while being tabbed at No. 19 in singles (2008).

After college, Abdala transitioned to the WTA professional tour. Achieving a ranking as high as No. 517 in the world in singles, Abdala competed in the international Federation Cup tournament representing Mexico.

"I want to keep the team healthy and fit in order to put ourselves in the best winning situation possible," Abdala noted. "My goals are to not only have a great team dynamic, but to get back into the top 50 rankings and qualify for the NCAA tournament."

Abdala is a 2010 graduate of Arizona State University and is from Mexico City, Mexico. She received her Bachelor's degree in Communications while at Arizona State.
