PROVO, Utah - The University of San Diego women's tennis team (8-10, 4-4 WCC) lost a heartbreaking match 4-3 to No. 52 Brigham Young (10-7, 6-1 WCC) Saturday afternoon at the BYU Outdoor Tennis Courts.

Although the Toreros took the doubles point, the Cougars found their way back in the match after BYU's Nicolette Tran came back from a set down to defeat sophomore Marta Stojanovic in three sets.

The Toreros started the day off strong in doubles. Senior Anna Depenau and freshman Colomba DiFilippo continued their domination that has been seen all season long taking down Cougars' Nicolette Tran and Savannah Ware 8-4. The pair have won eight matches in a row. Sophomores Shani Blecher and Marta Stojanovic followed knocking off Mayci Jones and Toby Miclat in a tiebreak 8-7(2).

In singles, the Cougars began to rebound taking points at the No. 1 and 6 spots. The Toreros began to rally back after Depenau handedly defeated Cougars' Meg Sheehan-Dizon 6-2, 6-1. Depenau is on a winning streak in singles as well, having won her last nine matches. While the Cougars answered at the No. 5 spot, DiFilippo equalized the match to 3-3 after getting the victory over BYU's Toby Miclat 6-3, 7-6(4).

The deciding point would feature Stojanovic at the No. 2 spot. Even though the Toreros have pulled out their last three matches that have come down to a deciding point, Saturday would not go their way. Cougars' Nicolette Tran edged out Stojanovic 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

The Toreros return to action across Interstate 8, going up against San Diego State this Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. PT.
