Torero Women Kick Off Thunderbird Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - The University of San Diego women's tennis team was in action on day one of the Thunderbird Invitational on Friday afternoon from Arizona State's Whiteman Tennis Center.

One USD doubles pair was in action on Friday as Idil Haciraifoglu and Alexandra Victorrson fell to BYU's Meghan Sheehan-Dizon and Desirae Tran 8-4.

In singles action, the Toreros were unable to capture a victory in the main draw. Haciraifoglu lost to Cal's Alice Duranteau by a score of 6-1, 6-2, while Victorsson was swept by Kelly Chui of Cal 6-0, 6-0. Marta Stojanovic also dropped her singles contest 6-3, 7-6 (6) to Fidan Manashirova of Ohio State.

Both Haciraifoglu and Stojanovic played a consolation singles match, but both came out with losses. Haciraifoglu fell 6-0, 6-0 to Ohio State's Gabby Steele, while Stojanovic lost to Morgan Anderson of BYU 7-6 (3), 6-4.

Action will continue from Whiteman Tennis Center on Saturday and Sunday.
