Idil Haciraifoglu advanced to the finals at the SDSU Fall Classic II

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -The University of San Diego women's tennis team participated in the Jack Kramer Invitational and the SDSU Fall Classic II over the weekend. Idil Haciraifoglu highlighted the weekend's events by advancing to the final match in the singles green division at the SDSU Fall Classic II.
Four Toreros were competing in the Jack Kramer Invitational. Anna Depenau and Shani Blecher both advanced to the Round of 16 in singles. Depenau received a first round bye then knocked off the 11th seed, Makenzie Craft of Baylor, 6-3, 6-2. Depenau fell in the Round of 16 to UCLA's Kaitlin Ray, the 7th seed, 6-4, 6-1.
Blecher, who was the 13th seed and also received a first round bye, defeated Ohio State's Grainne O'Neil 6-3, 6-3 in the Round of 32. She then fell to the 8th seed, Baylor's Victoria Kisialeva, in the Round of 16 after retiring due to injury.
Sophomore Mikalya Morkel-Brink fell in the opening round to Pepperdine's Michaela Capannolo 6-3, 6-0. However she rebounded to beat Mississippi State's Rosie Dion 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 in the consolation bracket. Morkel-Brink then fell to Ohio State's Miho Kowase 6-1, 6-1 in the second round of consolation.
Marta Stojanovic dropped both her singles matches. She fell to TCU's Mimi Fotopoulos 6-3, 6-3 in the first round and then retired after the first set in her consolation match against Morgan Thomas of UCLA.
In doubles, Blecher and Stojanovic defeated UC Santa Barbara's Kirsten Meehan and Stacey Yam 8-5 in the first round before falling to USC's fifth-seeded duo of Gabby Desimone and Ellie Yates 8-3 in the Round of 16.
Depenau and Morkel-Brink received a first round bye, but then ran into the top-seeded tandem of Baylor's Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankle, who defeated them 8-0.
Idil Haciraifoglu and Janine Koleta stayed in San Diego to compete in the SDSU Fall Classic II. Haciraifoglu won her first two singles matches in the Singles Green Bracket before losing to Washington's Angela Chen 6-0, 7-6 (2) in the Finals.
Haciraifoglu beat San Diego State's Olivia Larsson 6-3, 6-0 in the first round and Washington's Sophia Bott in the second round by a score of 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (3).
Koleta struggled in the Singles Gold Division, losing all three of her matches. Haciraifoglu and Koleta also lost both of their doubles matches.
The Toreros have now finished their Fall Tournament schedule and will be off until January 18 when they kick off the spring season at home against Cal State Fullerton.
