SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Senior Laura Claus jumped up 25 spots in the ITA singles rankings to No. 78 after going 2-0 last weekend. Claus's weekend was highlighted by a 6-2, 6-3 win over Pepperdine's 31st ranked Lorraine Guillermo. Claus has now won seven of her last ten singles matches.
Claus and her doubles partner Shani Blecher remained in the doubles rankings, coming in at No. 73.
The Toreros dropped one spot to No. 54 after going 1-1 over the weekend. The Toreros have been in the rankings the entire season, except for one week, rising as high as No. 40 on February 12.
The Toreros (10-10, 5-3) wrapped up their regular season last weekend and will have the entire week off to prepare for next week's WCC Tournament at Barnes Tennis Center. The Toreros are locked in as the No. 4 seed and will play the No. 9 seed, either Gonzaga or Portland, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. If the Toreros win, they will play the winner of the No. 5 vs. No. 8 match on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
