San Diego Competes at the WCC Championships on Thursday

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -
The Toreros travel to Claremont, California to compete in the WCC Championships Thursday. The women finished their regular season with a 10-12 overall record and a 6-3 WCC record. San Diego is seeded fourth, behind Pepperdine (1), Gonzaga (2), and Saint Mary's (3).


ALL-WCC AWARDS:
USD freshman Nicole Anderson was named All-WCC Second Team for Singles. She's held the No. 1 spot for USD throughout most of the spring season. She has earned a 14-10 overall record, and is 8-1 in conference play. 

Colomba DiFilippo and Daniela Morales both received honorable mentions for singles. DiFilippo has a 16-4 overall record and is 7-1 in conference play. Morales is 20-14 overall and 4-3 in conference. 

CONFERENCE COMPETITION:
The Toreros play LMU in the first round of the WCC Championships. LMU is seeded fifth, one spot behind the Toreros. Last time San Diego and LMU competed against each other, the Lions took the win 4-2. San Diego lost the doubles point, but Anderson and DiFilippo won their singles matches. LMU is 5-4 in WCC play.

If the Toreros defeat the Lions Thursday morning, they will face the No. 1 WCC seed, No. 11 Pepperdine, on Friday. The Waves are undefeated in conference, holding a 9-0 record. Last time the Toreros took on the, then No. 17 Waves, they were defeated in a 4-0 shutout. 

The young, strong women's team will play LMU Thursday at 10 a.m.
