SAN DIEGO, Calif. - University of San Diego senior tennis player Juliette Coupez has been named Capital One District 8 All-Academic. Coupez (Lesquin, France), a mechanical engineering major with a 3.82 GPA, earned the honor for the first time in her career. She was also named West Coast Conference All-Academic this season.
Coupez went 23-9 overall in singles this season (15-6 in dual singles primarily at No. 1) and took home first-team All-WCC honors in singles and second-team recognition in doubles (w/ Laura Claus). Coupez broke into the Campbell's/ITA national singles rankings for the first time this season on May 8 at No. 112. She finished her USD career third in Torero history in career doubles wins (68) and sixth in career singles victories (74).
Coupez helped lead the Toreros to their first-ever WCC championship on Apr. 28 by winning the clinching match versus Pepperdine. The 51st-ranked Toreros finished the season with a 13-10 (9-2 WCC) overall record and lost to Vanderbilt, 4-1, in the first round of the NCAA tournament on May 11.
