Getting to Know: Taylor Paschen

The freshman is nearing the USD record in the 800m and is trying to qualify for US Junior Nationals.

Freshman (2011-12): Competed in three meets during the fall, running her top 5k time of 19:13.4 at the Titan Invitational... Also competed in the UC Riverside Invitational (6k; 24:02.2) and Bronco Invite (5k; 20:25.7)... During the spring track season, competed in the 4x400 relay, distance medley, 400m, 800m and 1000m... Raced mostly in the 800m with her best time coming at the Pomona Pitzer Invitational, where she ran a 2:17.94... Named to the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll with a 3.70 GPA.

High School: Attended Adolfo Camarillo High School, where she earned one varsity letter in cross country and two in track... As a senior, was named first-team All-League in cross country and a Scholar-Athlete... Was named the 2010 Most Improved track athlete and her team's 2011 Sprinter of the Year... Also earned Scholar-Athlete honors in 2010 and 2011.

Personal: Born July 6, 1993 in Westlake Village, Calif.... Parents are Greg and Michelle Paschen... Chose USD because of the strong, Catholic academics and the beautiful location... Her twin sister, Mackenzie, is also attending USD.
