POINT LOMA, Calif. - USD's Freshman Erin Williams competed in the Pt. Loma Heptathlon this past Thursday and Friday.

The Heptathlon is a demanding Olympic event that incorporates jumps, runs, and throws, and is held in a two day competition.

On the first day, the events include the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200m. Second day events are the long jump, javelin throw, and the 800m.

The name of the event derives from the Greek hepta (7) and athlon (contest).

The Torero Freshman scored 2,928 points, and finished in 9th place overall in the grueling competition.

"I am proud of Erin for her effort these past two days," said head coach Will Guarino. "She embodies much of the fighting culture that we have in our young program."

This was the first time a USD athlete has entered a heptathlon.
