Good Times Roll for Toreros at UCSD

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Torero squad had outstanding performances this past weekend at the UCSD Triton Track & Field Invitational. The Torero Women were led by remarkable performances from many of their runners.

1500m
The 1500m races were led by Senior Lauren Infusino (4:59.83) and Freshman Dani Lemieux(4:59.28) as they began the day by posting a personal best performances. This was the second time both ladies had attempted this race this year.

800m
The 800m as also an event that continued the fast marks that were set by the Toreros for the day. Emerald Raney (2:18.86) set a season's best, while both Sophomore Gillian Gorelik (2:17.68) and Freshman Olivia Houser (2:25.56) set personal best marks in the 800 meters.

Hurdles
Senior Stephanie Tucker raced well enough in the 100 hurdles to seta season's best at 18.31, and later doubled and raced the 400m hurdles in1:20.97.

3000m
The bulk of the lady distance squad raced the 3000m. Leading the Torero team and the 2013 winner of the 3000m race was Freshman Ashton Padberg. "Ashton ran a smart race, she was at the shadow of the leaders and when she decided to make amove she moved rapidly passing at the end of the curve with near 600m to go, said Coach Kirsten Allan." This set Ashton up for a personal best mark.

 

 

Other Torero runners setting personal marks for the 3000m were Senior Mackenzie Entrikin (11:02.74), and Freshman Christina Winters (11:01.00). A runner that equaled their personal best was Freshman Kalin Padberg (10:51.89). Sophomore Kathryn Adamson (11:34.08) and Senior Maddie Levine (11:25.71) also ran outstanding races for the day. They came very close to matching their personal best times in the 3km.

5000m
The last individual race of the day for the Torero women was the Women's 5km. Senior Victoria Hambley carried her Torero squad to a personal best mark of 21:30.48. "Vickie was thrilled for this was her first time that she has ever raced in the 21's as a racer said Co-Captain Emerald Raney."

The Torero distance squad will now focus on their next and near final competition at the OXY invite in Los Angeles, California. The Toreros are happy to announce that this will be Senior Day. Races are scheduled to begin at 2:30p.m. and they will extend to near 10:00 p.m. If your anywhere close to LA, make it a point to watch this meet. This meet is traditionally sizzling fast!
