Played in 98 sets as an outside hitter for the Toreros...helped lead USD to the second round of the NCAA Tournament...recorded 117 kills, while hitting for a .138 clip...also recorded 166 digs...recorded a double-double with 12 digs and 10 kills in the season-opening win over Colorado (9/28/15)...recorded a season0high 14 digs against Florida State (9/29/15)...recorded 13 digs against Oregon State (9/4/15) and against SMU (9/12/15)...recorded a season-high 16 kills in a loss to Long Beach State (9/8/15)...recorded 10 kills against TCU (9/5/15).


Played in 26 matches with three starts...helped lead the team into the first round of the NCAA Tournament...recoded 21 kills...recorded 73 digs...recorded six blocks...had a career-high eight kills in a win against Pacific (10/10/14)...recorded a career-high 15 digs against BYU (11/14/14)...recorded 11 digs in a win against Gonzaga (9/27/14).


Played for the Fenerbahce Sports Club Volleyball team...helped lead her club team to the 2009 and 2012 Regional Championship with Fenerbahce Under-14 and Under-16 volleyball teams...She played in six consecutive Turkish Women's National Volleyball Championship with Fenerbahce U-14 ,U-16, U-18 and Reserves team...She scored a tournament career-high 170 points during 2012-13 Turkish Women's Reserves Volleyball league second leg, while playing in six matches in seven days which was played in Ankara Feb.2013...She has scored career-high 40 points in Turkish Women's Under-18 Volleyball league game in Dec. 2012 against Besiktas Women's Volleyball team...She played for Vakıfbank Under-18 Women's Volleyball team in her last year before attending USD, winning 2014 Turkish Women's National Volleyball Championship title without loosing single game whole season...She is a Turkish Women's National Volleyball team (Under-18 and Under-20) player ,she played in 2013 Women's Under-18 World Volleyball Championship in Thailand and Balkan Women's Volleyball Championships and in many other international volleyball tournaments in Europe appearing 28 times with Turkish Women's National Volleyball team uniform...Also she was selected onto the final 12 players roster of Turkish Women's National Volleyball team to play in 2015 Women's Under-20 World Championship in Puerto Rico however, due to USD volleyball season she declined to play in 2015 World Championship for Turkish Women's National Volleyball team...She has secured to play "pro volleyball" with her team Fenerbahce in Turkish Women's Premier Volleyball league right after her graduation from USD.


Merve Tanyel was born on February 6, 1996 in Istanbul Turkey...she is the daughter of Richard and Emrah Tanyel and Cigdem Sen...She has Turkish and American duel citizenship...was heavily recruited by Harvard, Arizona, Florida State, Oregon State, Florida, Miami, Pittsburgh, USC, San Diego State, San Francisco, Stanford and Penn... chose to attend USD because of her father being San Diego resident, as well as highly ranked volleyball program...Merve's father played both Basketball and volleyball in Turkish leagues...her mother played volleyball for Turkish Women's National Volleyball team...her sister Irem Tanyel played volleyball for Vakıfbank Under-14 volleyball team.
