SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Ali Troost recorded another double-double and both Chloe Ferrari and Ashton Basch were in double-digit kills as the 24th-ranked University of San Diego women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-23) win over the University of Portland in a West Coast Conference match Saturday afternoon at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

With the win, the Toreros improve to 11-4 overall and remain perfect in WCC action at 2-0. With the loss, the Pilots fall to 7-11 overall and 0-2 in the WCC.

Troost posted her fourth consecutive double-double as she recorded a match-best 14 kills and had 10 digs, while also hitting for a .429 clip. Ferrari recorded 12 kills on 20 swings, while posing a .500 hitting percentage and Basch recorded 11 kills on 26 swings to post a .346 attack percentage. Amy Mahinalani DeGroot recorded a team-best 13 digs, while also recording eight kills and Kelsi Myers racked up 41 assists, in helping steer the USD offense to a .429 team attack percentage.

In the first set, the Toreros went right to work as a Basch kill off a set from Myers jump started a 13-4 Torero run that saw five different Toreros record a kill. The Pilots, would slowly chip away at the lead and pulled back to within five at 17-12, but the Toreros prove to be too strong to overcome as they eased their way to a 25-15 win.

In the second set, the Toreros again raced out to an early lead as a Basch kill ignited a 14-5 San Diego run that was capped on a bad set from Portland's Madison Smith. The Pilots wouldn't go away however, as they pulled back to within three at 21-18, but again in the end the Toreros proved to be strong finishers as they outscored the Pilots 4-2 down the stretch to go into the break up two sets to none.

In the third and final set, the Pilots stunned the Toreros in the early going as they took advantage of a few USD miscues to jump out to a 8-3 lead. But a DeGroot kill off a set from Myers then sparked a 5-1 Torero run that was book ended on a Shelby Staab kill to pull USD back to within one at 9-8, forcing the Pilots into a timeout. The two teams then kept things close with both teams taking their turn with the lead and neither team having a lead bigger than two. Finally with the score knotted at 23, a Portland attack error then gave USD match point, which forced Portland to take a timeout. Ferrari then brought the match to an end as she recorded the final point on a kill to complete the USD sweep.

The Toreros will return to action on Thursday, as they host the University of Utah in a 7 p.m. non-conference match at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
