PORTLAND, Ore. - The 11th-ranked University of San Diego women's volleyball team ran their winning streak to six with a 3-1 win over the University of Portland Saturday afternoon in a West Coast Conference match at the Chiles Center.

With the 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 25-16 win, the Toreros improve to 15-3 overall, move to 7-2 in the WCC, and extend their second longest winning streak of the season to six. With the loss, the Pilots fall to 0-18 overall and 0-9 in the WCC.

Chloe Ferrari led the team's offense with 16 kills on 27 attempts, and only committed one error to hit for a .556 clip. Alaysia Brown was the second Torero in double-digit kills with 13, while Katie Hoekman recorded 12 kills and Sandra Lozic recorded 11. Jianna Bonomi recorded 32 assists, and had 10 digs to post a double-double, while C'era Oliveira recorded a team-best 17 digs. As a team, USD hit .308.

In the first set, it was a close nit battle throughout the entire frame. Both teams took their turn with the lead and neither team had a lead bigger than two. Then late in the set with the score knotted at 16-all, a Portland service error sparked a 4-1 San Diego run to give USD some breathing room and a 20-17 lead. USD never looked back, as they held on to claim a 25-21 win.

In the second set, San Diego raced out to a 6-3 lead to grab the early momentum. USD was then able to maintain a 3-4 point lead for the majority of the frame, and eventually took their lead to as many as eight at 23-15, but the Pilots then went on a 5-0 run to pull back to within three at 23-20. But that is as close as they would get, as USD went on to take the second set 25-21, to take a two-sets-to-none lead heading into the break.

In the third set, it was the Pilots who grabbed the early momentum, as they went on a 7-4 run to open up the frame. USD would then begin to chip away at the lead and eventually tied things up at 12-all on a Sandra Lozic kill. USD would then manage to grab the lead a few times, and with the score knotted at 20-all, the Pilots would take the lead for good on a Emily Liger kill, which sparked a 5-2 run to give the Pilots the set and force a fourth frame.

In the fourth and final set, it was all Toreros, as they used an 8-1 run right out of the gates to take complete control of the momentum. USD never looked back, as they cruised their way to a 25-16 win.

San Diego will return to action on Thursday, as they head up to Moraga, Calif. to take on the Gaels of Saint Mary's College.
